Job Description

As a Process Engineer at Evatec, you will develop and optimize technologies for depositing thin functional layers for high-tech thin-film coating systems. You will be responsible for independent process development, qualifying new processes, and supporting customer-specific applications worldwide. Working closely with R&D, Engineering, and Sales, you will drive product improvements and accompany the technical commissioning of production systems through to acceptance. Your work will also include documentation, publication of results, and internal and external training.

What you will be doing

  • check Development and optimization of technologies for depositing thin functional layers
  • check Independent process development within the scope of specifications/targets
  • check Process and product improvement in collaboration with R&D, Engineering, Product Market Management, and Sales
  • check Sampling and further process support for customer-specific applications
  • check Qualification of new processes, e.g., through DoE, test runs, measurements, and analysis
  • check Independent technical and process-related commissioning of production facilities with full responsibility from assembly to signing of IAT/FAT
  • check Qualification of new process hardware and process-relevant software features
  • check Documentation of necessary adjustments according to specifications and generally accepted quality standards
  • check Publication and documentation of process results (e.g., sampling and application reports)

What you should bring

  • check Master's degree in physics, engineering, or materials science, or comparable qualification (e.g., physics laboratory assistant apprenticeship and bachelor's degree)
  • check Knowledge of vacuum and thin-film technology is an advantage
  • check High level of intercultural communication skills with internal and external customers
  • check Initiative, flexibility, and a hands-on mentality
  • check Creative problem solving with organizational skills and a structured approach to work
  • check Fluent German
  • check Very good written and spoken English
