Do you want to go beyond understanding thin-film processes and actively develop and improve them? As a Process Development Engineer, you design processes in the PVD and plasma environment from the ground up – from initial experiments to stable application. You work hands-on with advanced coating systems and bring new material systems into reality while shaping the next generation of coating technologies in a strong R&D environment.
What you will be doing
checkDevelop processes: you design and optimize thin-film processes (e.g. PVD, sputtering, plasma), including layer stacks, targets, and process parameters
checkWork hands-on: you operate coating equipment and pilot setups, performing experiments independently
checkDrive innovation: you lead development projects from feasibility studies through process validation
checkEnsure performance: you analyze process stability, uniformity, and material properties and translate them into robust, repeatable processes
checkCollaborate closely: you work with customers, partners, and internal hardware and engineering teams
What you should bring
checkEducational background: you hold a Master’s or PhD in materials science, physics, or a related field
checkExperience: you are experienced in thin-film or vacuum process development (e.g. semiconductor, optics, coating)
checkMethods expertise: you apply Design of Experiments (DoE) with confidence and work data-driven
checkTechnical knowledge: you understand thin-film physics, plasma behavior, and material interactions
checkWorking style: you are hands-on, analytical, and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
